1. Cook fresh produce and compost your peelings 🥕
Tired of your trash can overflowing? Make room by cooking with fresh produce and recycling your peelings in the compost. In addition to being healthier, cooking at home allows you to avoid unnecessary plastic packaging for ready meals.
Zero waste tip: If you don't have a composter, no worries! Many cities offer drop-off points or neighborhood composters. And even if you live in an apartment, you can have a cute indoor CFL composter without insects or odors.
2. Adopt Tupperware and beeswax packaging 🐝
Bye bye to plastic wrap and aluminum foil that end up in the trash after just one use! Switch to reusable containers (the famous Tupperware) or even better: beeswax wraps .
These little wonders mold around your food or bowls, keep everything cool, and clean with cold water. They're eco-friendly and pretty. So why not try them?
3. Wash your dishes with Marseille soap and a washable sponge 🍽️
Bottles of dishwashing liquid and disposable sponges are sooooo 2010. Today, we're betting on Marseille soap (natural, biodegradable and economical) and a washable fabric sponge or a refillable wooden brush .
Not only do you say goodbye to unnecessary waste, but you rediscover the pleasure of dishes that smell natural. ✨
4. Make your own household products 🧹
Who said that cleaning had to rhyme with chemicals and plastic packaging? With black soap, baking soda , and white vinegar , you can clean everything, from floor to ceiling.
Quick recipe:
- 1 tablespoon of black soap
- 1 liter of lukewarm water
- 1 spoonful of baking soda
Shake, and there you have your all-purpose cleaner ready to use! Easy, right?
5. Switch to solid cosmetics 💄
The empty shampoo bottle lying around in the shower? Forget it. With solid cosmetics , you considerably reduce your waste . Shampoo, soap, deodorant… They are compact, effective, and last a super long time.
At My Better Way, we have a selection of solid products made in France, perfect for pampering yourself while respecting the environment. 🛀
6. Invest in a pack of washable wipes 💧
No more disposable cotton pads that pile up (and are expensive!). Washable wipes are a soft, sustainable, and much more chic alternative for removing makeup or cleaning your baby.
Just put them in the washing machine and they're like new. As a bonus, they help you save money in the long run. Double win! 🎉
7. Drink tap water with activated charcoal and a water bottle 💧
Did you know that drinking water from plastic bottles can generate hundreds of wastes per year? The alternative: a reusable bottle and an activated charcoal stick to purify tap water.
Activated carbon filters impurities, improves the taste of water, and can be used for several months. Result: pure water, without pollution, and with style. 🙌
Why do these gestures matter? 🌎
Adopting these tips is a small step for you but a big step for the planet. Every action counts to reduce pollution, preserve resources, and show that we can consume differently.
